Dear Salem Families,
At the conclusion of the school day, we were made aware of a verbal threat made against the district by one of our students. Through the cooperation of our students, local law enforcement, and Salem R80 staff, we were able to determine the origin of those threats and are addressing the situation accordingly. School will be in session tomorrow for all buildings. Please know that we will continue to cooperate with authorities to ensure the safety of all staff and students.
We would like to take a moment to commend the student who shared this information with local staff, which is exactly what students or families should do when made aware of similar statements or messages. We take all threats very seriously, and will act swiftly to address all safety situations.
If you or your student become aware of any type of threat please report it directly to school staff, police, or to Courage2Report, the state of Missouri’s official reporting mechanism. You can report a threat by calling 1-866-748-7047 toll free, or by texting “C2R” to 738477 to receive a link to an anonymous tip form.
We apologize for reaching out at this time, but wanted to make you aware of the situation and the information we have gathered.

Are you a returning family needing to register for the 24-25 school year? Register your student TODAY on your parent portal! Registration for ALL returning students will close Sunday, July 21st.
Registration will be online only. If you are a returning family to the district that needs access to a computer, internet, or needs guidance with the online registration, you are welcome to come to the high school library between 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM Friday, July 19th.
